Scratch Track (2009)

Traversing 14th street, the artist tows a Radio Flyer wagon outfitted with a specially constructed tone arm that converts the grooved palimpsest of the street into a sonic texture then broadcast by a mobile FM transmitter. Infiltrating the personal space created by the isolation of car interiors and ear buds, the broadcast reminds us there's a street beneath our feet.
