UIC Electronic Visualization Lab (2015-)

RFVis is the first stage of a project to visualize wide-band radio-frequency data produced by a Keysight n6841a RF sensor. Humans are sensitive to only a narrow region of the electromagnetic spectrum, a region we know as visible light. In order to experience electromagnetic energies of dierent frequencies, it is necerssary to use a device that can translate them into a formwe can perceive. The scope of this phase of the project was to write code to produce a data interface to the sensor and to create preliminary visualizations. I led a team of graduate students from the UIC Electronic Visualization Lab to produce live demonstrations of the sensor’s operation for the IEEE Vis conference in Chicago, October 25-30, 2015. The project continues until August 2016.
